BREAKING: A New Kennedy Has Officially Launched His Campaign

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy and a rising Democratic influencer, officially entered the race Wednesday for the New York City House seat being vacated by Rep. Jerry Nadler.

Schlossberg, 31, has built a large social media following and recently served as a political correspondent for Vogue. Now he’s hoping to turn his online fame into a seat in Congress representing New York’s 12th District. Nadler, the longtime dean of New York’s congressional delegation, announced in September he will not seek reelection.

“I’m not running because I have all the answers to our problems,” Schlossberg said in a video announcement. “I’m running because the people of New York 12 do. I want to listen to your struggles, hear your stories, amplify your voice, go to Washington and execute on your behalf.”

Schlossberg pitched his campaign as part of the Democratic effort to block former President Donald Trump’s agenda and take back control of the House.

“We deserve better, and we can do better, and it starts with the Democratic Party winning back control of the House of Representatives,” he said. “With control of Congress, there’s nothing we can’t do. Without it, we’re helpless to a third term.”

Trump has mused about running again in 2028 and even sold merchandise hinting at another campaign, but in October, he acknowledged he cannot run again under the Constitution.

Schlossberg has more than 1.5 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, but his popularity online doesn’t make him the frontrunner. That title goes to Assemblymember Micah Lasher, Nadler’s close ally and a favorite among New York’s Democratic establishment.

The Kennedy name still carries weight in politics, but Lasher has the local machine behind him.
