BREAKING: Alex Pretti Was Injured While Impeding ICE In Separate Incident Prior To Shooting
Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old Minneapolis ICU nurse who died during a confrontation with border agents last weekend, had been injured in an earlier encounter with federal officers just one week prior, according to a report.
Pretti suffered a broken rib after an encounter with federal agents following a protest against President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts, a source told CNN.
The incident occurred after Pretti stopped his vehicle when he saw Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers pursuing a family on foot, the source said.
Pretti allegedly began shouting and blowing a whistle and was then taken to the ground by five agents. One officer leaned on his back during the encounter, causing the rib injury, according to the source.
The ICU nurse, who “thought he was going to die,” was released at the scene but remained known to federal authorities afterward, the source said.

Documents obtained by CNN show agents deployed to Minneapolis earlier this month were instructed to “capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protestors.”
Federal officers are believed to have retained information related to Pretti, though it remains unclear when they first began documenting him.
Pretti later died during a confrontation with a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis on Saturday.
The latest development in the tragic situation is now being viewed as evidence that Pretti had demonstrated a pattern of physical encounters with federal agents. His disruptions during previous operations appear to have been noticeable enough to land him on law enforcement’s radar.
