BREAKING: Feds Raid Mansion Linked To Eric Swalwell
Federal agents descended on a Beverly Hills mansion Tuesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation involving disgraced former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, according to Fox News.
The FBI operation marks the latest development in the mounting legal troubles surrounding the former California congressman, who resigned in disgrace earlier this year amid a wave of sexual misconduct allegations.
Authorities targeted the luxury property just months after federal investigators searched Swalwell’s Washington, D.C., residence and confiscated his electronic devices at San Francisco International Airport.
The August operation was connected to an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct, sources familiar with the matter told Fox News. Swalwell was neither arrested nor detained.
At least five women, including a former congressional staffer, have accused the California Democrat of sexual misconduct or rape.
Swalwell, who had been seeking California’s governorship, abandoned his campaign and resigned from Congress in April as the allegations threatened to derail his political career. He had served 13 years on Capitol Hill and faced the possibility of expulsion before stepping down.
“I will fight the serious false allegations made against me,” Swalwell wrote when announcing his resignation. “However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”
The latest FBI raid comes as Swalwell faces another damaging controversy involving his past relationship with a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.

Newly declassified FBI documents released by the White House on Monday revealed that Swalwell acknowledged having sexual encounters with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang, a woman suspected of having ties to China’s intelligence apparatus.
According to the records, Swalwell told federal investigators that he had “physical relations” with Fang on several occasions, with their final sexual encounter taking place in March 2015.
The disclosures shed new light on a relationship that had previously drawn national scrutiny over concerns about potential Chinese intelligence operations targeting American politicians.
Fang was suspected of having connections to China’s Ministry of State Security, the country’s principal civilian intelligence agency. Her parents were also reportedly identified as Chinese intelligence officers.

Federal investigators questioned Swalwell about the relationship in May 2015 and again in March 2016, according to the newly released records.
The documents were made public through the White House’s newly established Government Transparency Task Force, bringing fresh attention to the former congressman’s dealings with the suspected Chinese operative.
The revelations have added to Swalwell’s troubles just days after the former lawmaker’s relationship with Fang returned to the spotlight.
Tuesday’s Beverly Hills raid represents another significant development in the federal investigation, although authorities have not publicly announced criminal charges against Swalwell in connection with the operation.
