BREAKING: Former President Biden Diagnosed With ‘Aggressive’ Prostate Cancer

Former President Joe Biden’s office confirmed Sunday that he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” Biden’s team shared in a statement. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement continued.

The former president and his family are meeting with doctors and considering “multiple treatment options,” including hormone treatment for the cancer, a source familiar with the former president’s thinking told NBC News.

Approximately one out of eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their life, according to the American Cancer Society. The cancer is common in older men and it is the second-leading cause of cancer death in American men, with lung cancer being the first, according to the society.

U.S. President Joe Biden speaks to members of the news media while receiving a briefing about the ongoing wildfire season in the Oval Office at the White House on September 17, 2024 in Washington, DC.

A spokesperson for the former president disclosed earlier this week that a “small nodule” on the 82-year-old’s prostate was discovered during a recent physical exam.

The diagnosis comes as Democrats remain sharply divided over the decision to initially nominate Biden for a second term in the White House. A number of books released over the last few weeks have provided new details on the cover-up of the former president’s signs of cognitive decline while in office.

At 82-years-old, Biden was the oldest person to have served in the White House.
