BREAKING: Former Trump Official In Critical Condition After Attack In DC

A deadly nighttime carjacking in Washington, D.C. has left a former Trump official in critical condition.

Mike Gill, formerly the chief operating officer at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, was shot during the encounter, Fox News reports. The family of Gill said he was in the area of 900 block of K Street NW around 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The suspect allegedly entered Gill’s car and shot him before fleeing with the vehicle.

A spokesman for Gill told a local Fox affiliate that he is a dedicated family man who feels lucky to be alive.

He makes friends with everyone – and is always looking for opportunities to bring people together and make them feel included and loved,” a spokesperson said. “His warmth and kindness have touched the lives of many, evident in the outpouring of love and support his family has received during this difficult time.

You can’t know Mike without hearing proud stories of each one of his kids, and hearing about his love and respect for his wife, Kristina.”

The attack on Gill is not unique to areas of D.C. and Maryland which have seen a rise in violent crime. Just two hours later, police confirmed the same gunman attempted a second carjacking of another individual. Ten minutes after that, the suspect approached two people on the sidewalk and demanded the keys to their car, a 2016 Chrysler 200. The suspect shot one of the men before driving off. The victim died after arriving at a nearby hospital.

The mayhem continued into the early hours of Tuesday morning when Maryland State Police exchanged gunfire with the suspect along the interstate. An all-points bulletin was put out describing the fleeing vehicle, and hours later the suspect was killed by New Carrollton police officers in Prince George’s County.
