BREAKING: Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Passes House

The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday voted to pass the Trump-backed Big Beautiful Bill after weeks of intense back-and-forth in both chambers of Congress and a marathon, day-long negotiation in the House.

After negotiations stalled during the vote to bring the motion to the floor as amended, which was widely viewed as the “test run” for a final vote, President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and other senior administration members met with a number of key holdouts early in the morning Thursday.

The coalition of holdouts included some members of the House Freedom Caucus and one moderate who represents a district that voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 in Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), a longtime opponent of the legislation, also flipped his vote from “yes” to “no” as negotiations stalled.

Massie was among the group of lawmakers who spoke with President Trump, however, and ultimately flipped his vote back to the surprise of many. According to a report from The Hill, Massie vowed to support the legislation if the president ceased his promise to back a primary campaign against him.

“What a great night it was. One of the most consequential Bills ever. The USA is the ‘HOTTEST’ Country in the World, by far!!” President Trump posted on Truth Social following the marathon negotiations.

Massie’s support ultimately did not materialize on final passage, however, as he stuck to his original plan to vote against. Rep. Fitzpatrick also voted against the legislation, making the two lawmakers the only Republicans to vote against.

The Big Beautiful Bill ultimately passed by a vote of 218-214, well within the president’s deadline of having the bill on his desk by July 4. He is expected to hold a signing ceremony at the White House as soon as possible.

After final passage, Republican lawmakers erupted into chants of “USA, USA!”

With the massive spending package finally passed, a number of President Trump’s most important agenda items will be enacted. The bill will allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to more than double its capacity to carry out mass deportations and elevate the agency’s funding from $2 billion to $45 billion.

It will also make the president’s 2017 tax cuts permanent, introduce a number of campaign promises such as no tax on tips, overtime or social security, and implement radical reforms to the nation’s welfare system.
