BREAKING: Trump White House Reveals Truth About ‘Mystery Drones’
In recent months, the skies over New Jersey have been the subject of intrigue and concern as reports of unusual drone activity surged across the state. Hovering above military installations, appearing in swarms, and drawing public attention, the so-called “mystery drones” became a source of speculation.
On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the matter directly, reading a statement from President Donald Trump, who sought to put the speculation to rest.
“After research and study,” the statement began, “the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational, and private individuals that enjoy flying drones.”
Trump’s statement added that the heightened activity, coupled with public curiosity, had contributed to a sense of alarm. “This was not the enemy,” Leavitt emphasized, seeking to downplay concerns of a foreign threat or coordinated attack.

The announcement comes amid months of growing fascination with drone sightings in the region after seeing a dramatic fluctuation in drone activity in New Jersey. Between November and January, over 600 drone sightings were documented across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. More than 300 of these incidents occurred within 25 miles of high-security sites.
The surge in activity prompted federal officials to enact temporary flight restrictions across 50-plus locations in New Jersey, including sensitive sites such as Trump’s Bedminster golf club and the Salem nuclear power plant. These measures, coordinated with federal security partners, aimed to prevent potential security breaches during a period of heightened scrutiny.
While the FAA’s restrictions have since been lifted, concerns over airspace security persist. Hobbyists and researchers may account for much of the activity, but the scale and proximity of the sightings to military and nuclear sites continue to raise questions.
However, Leavitt’s reading of Trump’s statement appears to be an effort to assuage public fears.
Before his inauguration, Trump weighed in on the rising concerns surrounding mysterious drone activity over New Jersey ports. The then President-elect Trump claimed that both the U.S. military and Joe Biden were aware of the source of the drones but had chosen not to inform the public.
“The government knows what is happening,” Trump said back in December. “Our military knows where they took off from. If it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went. And for some reason, they don’t want to comment.”
“I can’t imagine it’s the enemy, because if it was the enemy, they’d blast it out. Even if they were late, they’d blast it. Something strange is going on.”
“For some reason, they don’t want to tell the people. And they should, because the people are really — I mean, they happen to be over Bedminster,” Trump added, referring to the drones reportedly flying near his private golf course. “I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend in Bedminster. I’ve decided to cancel my trip,” he joked at the time.
This is a developing story…
