BREAKING: Matt Gaetz Drops Bombshell, Says DHS Knew Of 5 Trump ‘Assassination Teams’

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) disclosed alarming information on Thursday, claiming that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was aware of five assassination teams actively targeting former President Donald Trump. According to Gaetz, these teams, composed of both foreign and domestic actors, have been identified and the threat they pose has been gravely underestimated by federal authorities. Gaetz revealed the details of a conversation he had with a senior official from DHS before the second assassination attempt on Trump. This official reportedly expressed his concerns about the level of protection surrounding the former president, even before the attempts on his life in recent months.

Gaetz’s comments come in the wake of the most recent assassination attempt on Trump. The first incident occurred on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was grazed by a bullet. The same event claimed the life of a bystander, shaking the political world. The second attempt took place on Sunday at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, when a suspect named Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was arrested and charged with firearms offenses. Trump was unharmed in the second attempt, though the details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

In an interview, Gaetz described the DHS official’s briefing, which suggested that there are currently five known assassination teams inside the United States, with three inspired by foreign governments and two composed of domestic actors. These teams, according to Gaetz, are specifically targeting Trump, raising serious questions about the level of protection provided to the former president.

“And I’ll break a little news for you,” Gaetz said on ‘Human Events Daily.’ “I had a senior official from the Department of Homeland Security in my office before the second assassination attempt, saying that what he has assessed is that there are five known assassination teams in the United States, three inspired by other governments, two that are here that are known domestic assassination teams. And with that, this individual was coming to me concerned that the force protection around President Trump was not sufficient for what it needed to be.”

Gaetz said that the level of coordination between the Secret Service and local law enforcement needed to be much more robust, especially given the threat level identified by DHS. “The dignitary protection level is like the bare minimum that we have to do to keep our presidents and our presidential candidates safe while they’re on the trail.” He also raised concerns about the shifting of protective resources away from Trump’s security detail. He claimed that certain assets were pulled off Trump’s detail and reassigned to other dignitaries, including First Lady Jill Biden and former National Security Advisor John Bolton, at a time when the threat to Trump was particularly high.

“We don’t want anything bad to happen to Jill Biden,” Gaetz noted, “but at the same time, the threat envelope for her was substantially different than the threat envelope around President Trump. It would not have necessitated pulling assets away from the Trump detail.” The Florida Congressman then questioned the decision-making behind these moves, particularly in light of the assassination attempts and the reported knowledge of multiple active teams targeting Trump. Perhaps the most alarming aspect of Gaetz’s revelation is the claim that three of the five assassination teams are foreign, allegedly linked to countries like Iran, Ukraine, and Pakistan.

“One reason is because when they entered the country, there was insufficient scrutiny to stop them from doing so,” Gaetz said on Breitbart Sirius XM, pointing to the broader issues of border security and immigration enforcement. He warned that the open border policies have created a more dangerous environment for high-profile figures like Trump, making it more difficult for law enforcement to prevent these threats from materializing. “In the world in which we live—with an open border, with insufficient resources to stop people from coming here from other places to do harm—this is the threat level we have to confront. We can’t be Pollyanna about it; we’ve got to be vigorous.”

With two assassination attempts in less than two months, Gaetz’s revelation paints an even more concerning picture of the danger Trump faces.
