BREAKING: Matt Gaetz Joins Major News Outlet As Primetime Host
Former congressman Matt Gaetz may be gone, but he won’t be forgotten by former colleagues who will soon be covered by him from his perch in the Fourth Estate.
Since resigning his seat and dropping out of the confirmation process for U.S. attorney general, Gaetz last updated the public that he would not return to Congress despite winning reelection last month. On Tuesday Politico reported that the Florida firebrand’s next frontier will be at One America News Network where he will be the anchor of his own primetime show, cementing his position in the conservative media landscape and offering him an influential position from which to cover the machinations of Washington.

A series of graphics released by OAN on Tuesday tease Gaetz as a “powerhouse” get for the burgeoning news network and add that its “mega MAGA investment” will helm his own show weeknights at 9 p.m. In addition, Gaetz will co-host a video podcast with fellow OAN star Dan Ball, host of “Real America with Dan Ball,” that the network describes as a medium for “unfiltered conversations” tailored to Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X viewers. “We’ve been big fans of Matt Gaetz from day one. We admire his leadership and authenticity, and we’re confident he’ll really connect with our viewers. It’s an exciting partnership that’s going to take OAN to the next level,” Ball said in a statement.

His praise was echoed by OAN president Charles Herring. “Matt is a remarkable talent and a principled leader. His insider access to America’s top policymakers and unwavering dedication to America-first values will bring unparalleled insight and exclusive content to OAN viewers. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the OAN family.” Gaetz thanked his new colleagues, expressing enthusiasm for the new opportunity. “OAN is blazing a trail in media, embracing not just traditional news but the platforms where Americans are going: streaming, apps, podcasts, and social media. I couldn’t be more thrilled to join OAN’s forward-thinking team and be part of this revolutionary expansion,” he said.
Speculation was rampant about where Gaetz, a close ally of President-elect Donald Trump, would land next. The U.S. Senate vacancy created by Marco Rubio’s nomination for secretary of state kicked off a parlor game of scenarios, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis nominating himself and putting the governor’s mansion up for grabs ahead of the 2026 election. Gaetz hasn’t been shy about desiring the corner office, saying he would “definitely enjoy that job so much.”
“I would never leave it if I ever got that opportunity,” he said previously.
Returning to the rough-and-tumble of Congress may have been harder, however. He flashily clashed with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a feud that led to his ouster and created plenty of enemies in the process. President-elect Trump nominated him for the attorney general position despite a much-anticipated House ethics investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct with underage girls. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and members of the Ethics Committee have effectively killed the publication of the report.
