Following a fall at a D.C. hotel after a Senate Leadership Fund event on Wednesday night, Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader, is undergoing treatment for a concussion. According to a spokesperson, the 81-year-old will be staying in the hospital for a few days.
McConnell’s communications director, David Popp, said in a statement, “Leader McConnell tripped at a dinner event Wednesday evening and had been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment. The Leader is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”
“I can tell you that he’s going to be OK,” the senator said to NBC News on Thursday.
Older adults may be more vulnerable to the effects of a concussion due to age-related changes in the brain and other health conditions that may affect recovery.
A concussion can cause a range of symptoms, including headaches, dizziness, confusion, memory problems, and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can make it difficult for a person to carry out their normal activities, including work responsibilities.
According to reports, GOP Senator Mitch McConnell was hospitalized after taking a fall at a private dinner in Washington D.C.
