BREAKING: Second ICE-Involved Shooting Confirmed In Minneapolis

on

At least one individual was shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 14. The latest incident comes exactly a week after an ICE officer shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good, a local “ICE Watch” activist who was shot after accelerating towards the agent.

The incident took place around 6:50 p.m. Central Time, according to a report from local outlet KMSP.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported that ICE was making contact with a target who then allegedly assaulted an agent with a shovel. Shots were fired in response, and the suspect then retreated into a house, Melugin reported.

In a follow-up post, Melugin reported that one individual, believed to be a Venezuelan illegal immigrant, was indeed shot. Their condition was listed as “okay/stable” and they were taken into custody.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) soon confirmed the shooting and provided additional details in a social media post.

At the time of the shooting, agents were attempting to apprehend a Venezuelan illegal alien who was released into the country by the Biden Administration in 2022. In an attempt to evade arrest, the subject fled the scene in a vehicle and crashed into a parked car. He then exited the vehicle and continued to flee on foot, DHS said.

An ICE agent soon caught up with the subject and attempted to arrest him, at which point the subject “began to violently assault the officer.”

Two additional subjects then came out of a nearby apartment and proceeded to attack the agent with a snow shovel and a broom handle, DHS said. “As the officer was being ambushed and attacked by the two individuals, the original subject got loose and began striking the officer with a shovel or broom stick,” the department’s post continued.

The officer then opened fire in self-defense, striking the initial subject in the leg. All three subjects then retreated back into the apartment and barricaded themselves inside, DHS said.

Not long after, the attacked officer and the initial subject were transported to area hospitals, while the additional two attackers were taken into custody.

“This attack on another brave member of law enforcement took place while Minnesota’s top leaders, Governor Walz and Mayor Frey, are actively encouraging an organized resistance to ICE and federal law enforcement officers,” DHS posted on X.

“Their hateful rhetoric and resistance against men and women who are simply trying to do their jobs must end. Federal law enforcement officers are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest criminals and lawbreakers.”
