BREAKING: Somali Daycare ‘Quality Learing Center’ Is Now Closed, Records Reveal
The Minnesota daycare that became a viral symbol of alleged fraud after being spotlighted in a YouTuber’s video closed this week, according to state records.
The Quality Learning Center closed on Tuesday, according to licensing records from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The state did not give a reason for the shutdown.
“Quality Learning Center requested closure of their license and it was closed effective Jan. 6, 2026,” a Minnesota Department of Youth, Children, and Families spokesperson told Fox. “The provider is unable to reopen without reapplying for a license.”
The center’s most recent licensing review took place in June 2025, when regulators cited the facility for several violations. State records said there was no evidence of fraud at that time.

The daycare drew national attention after YouTuber Nick Shirley featured it in a video examining multiple child care centers that he alleged were collecting public funds while failing to provide services.
Quality Learning Center was one of the locations Shirley visited. During his stop, the business appeared inactive, despite receiving state child care assistance funds. The sign outside the building also misspelled “learning” as “learing,” an error that was later corrected.
The video fueled claims that the center was part of a broader fraud scheme involving some Minnesota day care providers, particularly within segments of the state’s Somali community.
The allegations sparked condemnation from the Trump administration, which announced an investigation into potential fraud tied to Somali businesses across Minneapolis.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon weighed in at the time, writing on X, “One fraudulent business in Minnesota that misspelled ‘learning’ on its building received $1.9M this year while masquerading as a daycare.”
Days after the video went viral, the center denied any wrongdoing and pushed back against claims that it had engaged in fraud.
