BREAKING: GOP Primary Race Has Been Called In South Carolina In Record Time

After polling as a sizable favorite for several weeks, former President Donald Trump emerged victorious in South Carolina’s Republican primary.

Saturday’s results comes on the heels of wins in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and the Virgin Islands for former President Trump. The South Carolina win is particularly notable, as Trump has now defeated his lone remaining Republican rival, former Governor Nikki Haley, in her home state.

Trump had received a sizable number of key endorsements from South Carolina Republicans, including that of Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), who has been campaigning for the former president since dropping out of the presidential race himself.

In addition to Scott, Trump was endorsed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Attorney General Alan Wilson, U.S. Reps. Russel Fry, William Timmons, and Joe Wilson, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, and dozens of additional state lawmakers, mayors, and additional current and former Republican officials.

Despite her lack of electoral success, Haley has vowed to stay in the race. After Haley announced a “state of the race” speech in Greenville earlier this week, speculation mounted surrounding the future of her campaign. The speech was far from a concession speech, however, as the former UN ambassador instead explained her reasoning for staying in.

““That’s why I refuse to quit. South Carolina will vote on Saturday. But on Sunday, I’ll still be running for president. I’m not going anywhere. I’m campaigning every day until the last person votes. Because I believe in a better America and a brighter future for our kids,” she said.

To that end, Haley’s campaign recently committed to a seven-figure ad buy across multiple Super Tuesday states.

With the South Carolina primary concluded, both candidates will now head to Michigan for the state’s February 27 primary.
