BREAKING: Trump Wins High-Profile Lawsuit Against ’60 Minutes’
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he and his legal team have formally reached an agreement to settle his lawsuit against CBS News’ “60 Minutes” over a deceptively-edited interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election cycle.
“BREAKING NEWS! We have just achieved a BIG AND IMPORTANT WIN in our Historic Lawsuit against 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount,” the president announced in a Truth Social post.
CBS News and parent company Paramount Global had previously announced that they would settle with the president after the network was caught chopping up its interview with Harris ahead of the election. The controversy stemmed from two different answers given by the then-vice president, one in a promo for the interview and another in the interview that aired.
Earlier this month, news broke that the two sides were in “advanced stages” of a final settlement that would see millions of dollars going to the president. The news sent some of the network’s mainstays into a frenzy, including late night host Stephen Colbert, who lashed out at Paramount Global just days before his show was axed.
On Tuesday, President Trump announced that a final settlement had indeed been reached.
“Just like ABC and George Slopadopoulos, CBS and its Corporate Owners knew that they defrauded the American People, and were desperate to settle. Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes have today paid $16 Million Dollars in settlement, and we also anticipate receiving $20 Million Dollars more from the new Owners, in Advertising, PSAs, or similar Programming, for a total of over $36 Million Dollars,” the post continued, referencing the president’s previous settlement with ABC News over false reporting about the E. Jean Carrol case.
“This is another in a long line of VICTORIES over the Fake News Media, who we are holding to account for their widespread fraud and deceit,” the post continued.
“The Wall Street Journal, The Failing New York Times, The Washington Post, MSDNC, CNN, and all other Mainstream Media Liars, are ON NOTICE that the days of them being allowed to deceive the American People are OVER. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The settlement comes just months after ABC News reached a similar agreement with the president after host George Stephanopoulos falsely labeled him as a “convicted rapist” during a campaign cycle interview with U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC). According to the settlement, which was filed publicly back in December, ABC News agreed to pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a “presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for the Plaintiff.”
The network was also ordered to pay an additional $1 million to cover the president-elect’s legal fees, in addition to issuing a formal apology and retraction on the part of the network and Stephanopoulos.
Just last week, the president announced that he will be filing a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal over a controversial report linking him with he notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The report claimed, without evidence or proof, that Trump sent a bawdy letter to Epstein for his birthday in 2003 that supposedly included a poem and a hand-drawn photo of a naked woman signed “Donald.”
President Trump has vehemently denied the allegation and announced that he would be filing a lawsuit against The Journal, parent company News Corporation and News Corp founder Rupert Murdoch.
