Byron Donalds Gets Applause From Bill Maher’s Crowd After Shutting Him Down On His Own Show
U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds Turned the tables on “Real Time” host Bill Maher by drawing attention to rampant inflation under the Biden Administration.
Maher began the conversation by claiming that Trump’s inability to “concede elections” will always be a dealbreaker for him. The HBO host was a prominent believer in Russian collusion conspiracies and frequently advanced the notion that the 2016 election was influenced by the Russian government on his show.
He then listed a number of issues he took with Trump’s speech before falsely claiming that inflation is down under President Biden. While inflation is down year over year, prices remain up roughly 20 percent since Biden took office in January 2021.

“Whatever he thinks should be the reality, is the reality that he then espouses, even though you know it’s not?” Maher said while asking the Florida congressman if this “bothers” him.
“What he talks about is what Americans are feeling every single day, no matter which city in the country you’re talking about,” Donalds said, at which point Maher interjected with, “so facts don’t matter?”
“Oh they do,” Donalds replied. “Inflation, let’s take that one for a moment. Yeah, the year-over-year right now is what 3.4 or 3.5 percent? But the overarching of inflation from when Joe Biden took office to now is up massively over 20 percent. Those prices didn’t go away.”
Maher once again interjected to claim that it is a lie to say that inflation is the “worst ever.”
“Because if you are, if you’re an American under the age of 45, or 45 or younger like I am, his is the worst inflation you’ve ever seen. I heard about inflation from my mom under Jimmy Carter and Reagan had to get that under control. I’ve never seen anything like this,” Donalds shot back.
The House Freedom Caucus member concluded that inflation is a driving force behind polling momentum in Trump’s favor since Biden took office. “It’s one of the reasons why young voters, young men in particular are saying, you know what, at least when Donald Trump was president, ‘I had more money in my pocket and I could get more things,’ because this Joe Biden guy, he’s not getting it done,” Donalds said, drawing applause and cheers from Maher’s crowd.
