In one of many exchanges during Wednesday’s hearing, FBI Director Christopher Wray maintained a firm stance of neutrality when pressed to comment on whether Joe Biden is currently under investigation by the U.S. Attorney in Delaware.

The inquiry pertained to payments from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company, and any other foreign entities with Biden.

“Did Joe Biden take payments from Burisma or any other foreign companies as vice president, president, or private citizen Biden?” Rep. Tiffany (R-WI) asked.

Wray acknowledged an ongoing investigation led by the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, Mr. Weiss, which the FBI’s Baltimore field office is actively supporting. However, Wray declined to clarify the exact subject or focus of this inquiry.

“So the President is under investigation?” Tiffany followed up.

“I’m not going to confirm or speak to who is or isn’t under investigation for what. I’m simply going to tell you…”

“So he’s not under investigation?” asked Tiffany.

“I didn’t say that either. By long-standing department policy and practice. By long-standing department policy and practice. I’m not going to be confirming or denying who is or isn’t under investigation.” Wray finished.

WATCH:

On Wednesday, House Republicans directed a series of strong criticisms at Wray, alleging that his actions have eroded public faith in the law enforcement agency. They further accused him of demonstrating bias in the investigations into ex-President Donald Trump and Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

In response to the criticism, admitted to previous missteps while emphasizing that measures have been implemented to rectify these issues. He also had heated exchanges with Republicans who claimed he and the FBI were biased against conservatives.
