CNN Analyst Gives Biden Brutal News
If President Joe Biden stands a chance at winning reelection, he’ll be pinning his hopes on the possibility that voters forget essentially every issue his administration has touched — except one.
That’s the message that came from CNN data analyst Harry Enten, who broke down the daunting math Biden faces as public opinion has mounted against him on nearly every domestic and international priority since he took office. Once riding high on the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the promise of Bidenomics, the Democrat is looking at an electorate that gives his chief rival, former President Donald Trump, a 19-point lead on who best handles the economy.
Across immigration, international strife, and campus protests, President Trump has built a lead among likely voters that leaves President Biden relying on concern over abortion restrictions and protecting democracy; he holds a slim four-point lead in the latter category.

“The economy, Trump leads. Immigration, Trump leads, foreign conflicts, Trump leads. And even on preserving democracy, which has obviously been a focal point of the Joe Biden campaign. He only leads on this issue by four points. So abortion being in the news is something that Joe Biden wants, because it’s the issue that he runs most ahead of Donald Trump on,” Enten said, according to the Daily Caller.
“If you are the Biden campaign looking at these numbers in important states for them on the map, Arizona and Nevada, what do you see?” CNN anchor John Berman asked.
“Yeah, you love the fact that abortion is in the news because would Biden or Trump do a better job? This is nationally, look at abortion. Biden leads on this measure by 14 points. It’s by far his best issue,” Enten replied.

Months of record-breaking illegal crossings have given Trump a 14-point lead on the issue of immigration, due in part to the high-profile killing of University of Georgia student Laken Riley by a new migrant with a length criminal record that went unnoticed by the Department of Homeland Security. The Republican has promised to create “the largest deportation operation” in history.
While the number of illegal crossings has subsided in recent months, President Trump still benefits from wall-to-wall coverage of the media’s latest fascination: student protests against Israel that are roiling college campuses across the nation. Trump holds a six-point lead over Biden on managing foreign affairs.
Biden’s only salvation lies in his 14-point lead when asked who would be more likely to preserve access to abortion. In response, Trump has tried to allay concerns among independent voters in the years following the overturning of Roe v. Wade; he encouraged Georgia’s Republican-led state legislature to pass a law preserving access to IVF, and made a similar request of Arizona lawmakers after a court ruled that an 1864 law allowing the jailing of women who seek abortions to stand.
The Biden campaign’s focus on abortion, however, may not be resonating. Politico’s Playbook reported Monday morning on an internal poll of 400 voters, conducted by the Trump campaign, which shows just 16% of likely November voters ranked their top issue of the moment as “Abortion/women’s rights” or “Arizona abortion ruling/abortion ban.” The war in Gaza was tied with abortion as the top issue among the swing state voters.
