CNN Spirals After Suffering Huge Ratings Crash

Published

on

CNN’s ratings have absolutely plummeted over the past few months and the liberal news network is on track to hit a historic low. In their fall from grace, CNN has completely lost grip of one key demographic that the news channel previously relied on for many of their views.

It is no shocker that the news enterprise has lost many viewers in recent months. Their intentional reliance on attacking former President Donald J. Trump for years is now appearing to longer be a viable strategy.

CNN most recently faced fierce backlash for misogynistic comments made by former morning show host Don Lemon who has since been removed from his post during that news segment. The comments made by Don Lemon regarding “women in their prime” in reference to Presidential candidate Nikki Haley may have been the final straw for a large portion of their audience who seems to have tuned out.

By the end of February, CNN is slated to report their smallest audience in the 25-to-54 demographic since June of 2014. Keep in mind, 2014 was a year that Donald Trump was just barely breaking into the Presidential run arena.

Check out what the New York Post reports on CNN’s failing numbers below:

“Under CNN boss Chris Licht, the network has slumped” and the Don Lemon-led CNN This Morning is set to end February with its lowest 25-to-54 age viewership since the show launched in November, after Lemon was ousted from his former primetime slot. In the first 24 days of February, the morning show averaged  361,000 total viewers … CNN’s former morning program, New Day, garnered an average of 430,000 viewers per day. The new show, hosted by Lemon, Poppy Harlow, and Kaitlan Collins, averaged 16 percent lower than the older show, which was canceled due to low ratings.”

Interestingly enough, The Post Millennial reports that after Don Lemon was removed from his morning show post at CNN, ratings surprisingly jumped five percent. Thus, showing a strong distaste the show has among viewers.

Fox News is also reporting CNN’s failing numbers claiming Don Lemon’s failing viewership is just one of many, check out their report on the situation below:

“Anderson Cooper 360,” “The Lead with Jake Tapper” and Wolf Blitzer’s “Situation Room” are on pace to their smallest audiences since that same month among the critical demo, while “Inside Politics” is on pace for its least-viewed month among the category since August 2005.

While other shows may also be seeing a strong decline in ratings, it’s clear that Don Lemon’s comments did a whopping amount of damage to the news channel. See what the former morning show host said in the video below:
