“Biggest Theft of American Tax Dollars Ever”: Rep. Comer Explodes During Interview [WATCH]

Speaking during an interview with Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. James Comer sounded off on the program he termed the “biggest theft of American tax dollars ever.”

That program, of course was the Covid relief program.

As you can hear in the clip, Comer sounded off on the issue after Ingraham brought it up, calling the trillions in pandemic spending that led to hundreds of billions in fraud the “biggest theft of American tax dollars ever.”

Ingraham introduced the topic, saying “Joining me now, is that man who ran today’s hearing House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer. Now, Congressman, again, more than 5 trillion and COVID aid was earmarked for people who are really in need. How big do you think this fraud will actually total up to?”

Comer, responding to Ingraham, sounded off on the waste and fraud, saying:

“In the end, it’ll exceed 20%. So we’re talking over a trillion dollars, it couldn’t be more, this pandemic spending will go down in history as the biggest theft of American tax dollars ever. It’s a disgrace.”

Continuing, Comer claimed that no one has, up until now, shown an inclination to start investigating the fraud, but that he and his congressional allies are looking behind the curtain now that they’re in power. In his words:

“There are very few people who are actually trying to measure the extent of the fraud. We’re starting today. You know, in the new Republican majority, the first hearing of the House Oversight Committee was dedicated to waste, fraud and abuse.”

Adding to that, he emphasized that the Democrats haven’t shown an inclination to start looking into the fraud and refused to do so when in control of Congress. In his words:

“But think about this, Laura, over the past two years, the Democrats have not had a single hearing in the Oversight Committee, which is supposed to be in charge of waste, fraud and abuse over pandemic fraud, not a single hearing.”

Ingraham but to a clip of Democrat Rep. James Clyburn saying, when speaking about the investigations Comer wants to hold “I think they are very, very unnecessary. They are really a waste of time. We saw that time and time again, when they were in power before. And I think that will be the end result this time, as well. But then a lot of money will have been spent and wasted. And a lot of time when we could be devoted to improving people’s lives. All related.”

Exploding on Clyburn, Comer called him “symbolic of the Washington Democrats” in a brutal smackdown, saying:

“He was he concerned about the Muller investigation, all the ridiculous impeachment hearings and everything else that was done to harass President Trump, I don’t think so. He’s symbolic of the Washington Democrats. They don’t care about how much money they waste, all they care about is spending more money. And he’s been in leadership for the past four years, during all of this waste, fraud and abuse with respect to pandemic spending, and never bothered to really dive into the situation to try to stop it to try to claw back some of the funding. I mean, these reports have been published for months and months and months, yet they refuse to do anything about it.

“We want to try to see if there’s a way to claw any of this money back to hold people accountable and try to put safeguards in place so it doesn’t happen in future. The worst thing I learned today is that the Small Business Administration administered the PPP Loan Fund, the IRS has they do not pay list for whatever reason the SBA didn’t utilize that do not pay less, which wouldn’t have taken anything to have incorporated that into their software.”
