Conservatives are intensifying their calls for the deportation of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after the congresswoman made racist comments during an interview.
During a resurfaced interview with Al-Jazeera, Rep. Omar said, “I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country.”
The interview, which was initially conducted in February 2018, gained viral popularity over the week. In the wake of the controversial statement, some have even gone as far as demanding Omar’s deportation.
WATCH:
This interview escalates existing tension between Omar and her conservative counterparts, who have repeatedly criticized her previous statements about Israel and U.S. foreign policy. With these new remarks and the ensuing backlash, the divisions appear to be deepening.
