Country Star Mocked For Selling Her Tesla In Protest Of Elon Musk

Country star Cheryl Crow is being ridiculed for announcing that she sold her Tesla as an act of protest against Elon Musk’s involvement with the Trump Administration.

“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with. There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” Crow wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend. The caption was posted alongside a video of the “First Cut Is The Deepest” singer’s black Tesla being toed away.

Crow, a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party and vehement critic of President Trump, further announced that she would be donating money to NPR. The outlet has been under threat of losing its federal funding over left-wing political bias and chilling comments made by CEO Katherine Maher about freedom of expression.

“The number one challenge here that we see is of course the First Amendment in the United States,” Maher said while speaking with the Atlantic Council. “It is a fairly robust protection of rights. And that is a protection of rights both for platforms, which I actually think is very important that platforms have the right to be able to regulate what kind of content they want on their sites. But it also means that it is a little bit tricky to really address some of the real challenges of where does bad information come from, and sort of the influence peddlers who have made a real market economy around it.”

“Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth,” Crow’s post continued. She then urged followers to contact their congressional representatives in order to push back against “President Musk.”

Crow’s post was largely met with mockery on social media, as many users pointed out that Tesla already got her money when she bought the car. Conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman mocked the singer’s “you are who you hang out with” by posting a photo of Crow and notorious Hollywood rapist Harvey Weinstein.

“With Her Musical Career Behind Her, Sheryl Crow Is Now Selling Used Cars,” added conservative firebrand Ann Coulter.

The post also caught the attention of Trump’s FCC chair Brendan Carr, who recently opened a probe that could strip NPR of its taxpayer funding. “I know celebrities are hesitant to weigh in on hot button issues, so I appreciate Sheryl Crow making an argument here — not through words alone, but through her actions — that Congress should not force taxpayers to subsidize NPR,” Carr posted on X. “Bravo.”

“Wouldn’t take too many celebrities following Sheryl Crow’s lead and selling their cars to keep NPR going without taxpayer dollars,” Carr added in a follow-up post.

Despite protests from Crow and other Democrats, Musk’s DOGE initiative has been continuing with its mission to audit federal agencies and cut down on wasteful spending. Both Trump and Musk are set to discuss the initiative, as well as the president’s first 100 days in office, in an interview with Fox News this coming Tuesday.
