A courtroom sketch depicting former President Donald Trump has gone viral. The artwork emerged from Monday’s appearance by Trump in a New York City courtroom, where he is entangled in another legal battle.
The 34 charges, brought forward by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, accuse Trump of falsifying business records linked to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels, a former adult film star.
The case centers on a $130,000 payment to Daniels, arranged by Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to allegedly ensure Daniels’ silence about an alleged affair during the 2016 campaign.
The sketch, swiftly shared across social media platforms, showed Trump’s visibly elated reaction—a rare, unguarded moment that has sparked an onslaught of jokes and memes online. Earlier today in a separate case, Trump received a favorable ruling regarding his bond requirement.
Just hours before New York Attorney General Letitia James promised to begin seizing assets of the Trump empire in order to pay the original $454 million judgment, a five-person panel of appellate judges reduced the figure to $175 million.
The change comes after former President Trump said he would need to conduct a “fire sale” of various properties to come up with a cash payment.
If the decision had not come down, Trump ran the very real risk of seeing his personal bank account frozen and entire buildings be vacated and put under the control of the state of New York.
