NEW: Cracker Barrel Caves Again, Drops Support For Liberal Cause
Fresh off a stinging rebuke over its logo, the Cracker Barrel brand is rescinding its support for a liberal cause the company has promoted for decades.
The Americana restaurant chain faced a lengthy backlash after releasing a polished — some would say soulless — new logo that stripped out its Uncle Hershel character and refurbished its homespun interiors with a sleek modern look.
For days, the company remained quiet as anger mounted over the change, prompting critics to delve deeper into its history of social justice activism.
One area targeted included Cracker Barrel’s sponsorship of Nashville Pride, the annual street festival celebrating the month of June for LGBT communities. Cracker Barrel appeared to sponsor the event in both 2023 and 2024.
But on Wednesday, a Pride page on the company’s website was quietly removed, a sign of how much pressure executives are feeling from longtime customers and conservative media.
The page used to boast about “bringing the porch to Pride,” but now redirects to a “Culture and Belonging” page.
“At Cracker Barrel, welcoming people has always been at the heart of who we are. When we take care of one another, we are able to take even better care of the people who walk through our doors,” the page says.
Conservative activists like Robby Starbuck and Chris Rufo have reported how Cracker Barrel unveiled rainbow-colors porch chairs at its Nashville eatery in 2023 and participated in a paid sponsorship of the city’s Pride festival the following year.

The founder of Cracker Barrel has also served on the Human Rights Campaign’s Business Advisory Council, which enforces the Corporate Equality Index, or a social justice scorecard that rates companies for their DEI policies in the workplace.
A spokesperson for the franchise previously told Fox News that it “has not participated in the Human Rights Campaign Index or had any affiliation with HRC in several years.”
Wednesday’s change appears to be tidal, given the company’s history of speaking out against opponents of gay rights.
In 2014, Cracker Barrel ended its partnership with “Duck Dynasty” after the show’s patriarch made remarks that the mainstream media deemed homophobic. The company’s HRC score was later increased in 2021 after it adopted several pro-LGBT stances, Fox News reported.
Withering outrage against the company over its logo change, including a statement from President Donald Trump, resulted in a return to the company’s original logo featuring Uncle Hershel.
“We thank your guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel,” the restaurant chain said in a statement to Fox Business. “We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain. At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been — and always will be — about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family.”
