Jasmine Crockett’s Attempt To Blame Trump For Biden’s Jobs Report Backfires Spectacularly

Democrat Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) might need a fact-checker to look things over before she posts her next tweet.

Crockett recently took to social media to criticize former President Donald Trump, citing a Forbes article detailing weaker-than-expected job growth in January. In her post, she quipped, “So it turns out when you DON’T go woke, you go broke.
Trump’s New DEI? Dying Economy and Inflation.”

“It’s only two weeks in and Trump is Making America Broke Again,” Crockett gleefully wrote.

Crockett’s post suggests that Trump’s early actions—particularly his moves to dismantle DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives within federal agencies and the private sector, a decision widely supported by Americans—are directly contributing to economic downturns. This claim, of course, aligns with a broader Democratic narrative that DEI programs drive economic growth and workplace productivity.

While this statement might score political points with her base, the timing of the jobs report completely undermines Crockett’s credibility.

The Forbes article she cites discusses the January jobs report, which shows weaker-than-expected employment growth and the slowest start to a year since 2016. Although the article was published on February 7, 2025, the data was collected in January—weeks before Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2025.

See the problem?

Perhaps Congresswoman Crockett didn’t realize that the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) compiles jobs reports using surveys conducted in the first half of each month. Therefore, the January report reflects employment trends and economic conditions entirely under the previous administration’s policies—President Joe Biden’s policies, to be specific.

This means that any slowdown in hiring or economic stagnation observed in the report cannot be attributed to Trump’s policies, which had yet to take effect. If anything, this jobs report is an indictment of Biden’s economic policies rather than Trump’s.

Unsurprisingly, Trump’s supporters didn’t let this accusation slide. The Trump War Room account fired back with a scathing tweet:

“So it turns out that Jasmine Crockett is DUMBER than we had originally thought,” they wrote in a quoted response. “This jobs report is based solely on data from before President Trump’s inauguration.”

This isn’t the first time Crockett has made misleading statements. Earlier this week, she stirred controversy when she claimed—on live television, no less—that “80% of the worst crimes in America are committed by white supremacists” during an appearance on Laura Coates Live on CNN.

That statement, of course, was completely false—and she was fact-checked by just about everyone. The claim appears to stem from a misrepresentation of certain FBI crime statistics, which have often been cherry-picked to push misleading narratives.

The reality is that violent crime in America is a complex issue driven by numerous socioeconomic and cultural factors. Oversimplifying the issue to blame one group without factual support not only misinforms the public but also deepens divisions.

Crockett’s pattern of making sensational but inaccurate claims raises serious questions about her credibility. Whether it’s economic policy or crime statistics, public officials have a duty to inform, not mislead.

Perhaps next time, before hitting “post,” Crockett should take a moment to check the facts. It could save her from yet another embarrassing correction.
