Conservative firebrand and top-rated radio host Dan Bongino delivered an emotional message to his audience Monday morning, revealing that his time as a political commentator is coming to an end. Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and staunch Trump ally, has been tapped to serve as Deputy Director of the FBI under incoming Director Kash Patel.

“It’s not going to be the last show, but we’ve only got a few more left with you,” Bongino told viewers. “So, obviously, we’re going to be working with a team of people to make this transition from me, political commentator Dan, to Deputy Director of the FBI Dan.”

“Those are different roles, require different skills. Skills I have and have used before and I plan to use again. It’s going to hurt to leave you,” he explained.

Bongino reassured his audience that his departure would not affect the content produced by his wife and daughters, who have played a major role in managing his brand. “I’ll discuss over the course of the coming days, I’ll be with you for a little bit longer on radio and on my show, I will discuss exactly what’s going to happen.”

He continued, “My wife has been running the business for a long time. I don’t get involved with the business at all. I do the talking.”

“The FBI belongs to the American people. It doesn’t belong to me. It doesn’t belong to anyone else but the American people. But this is the honor of a lifetime, and it’s a serious mission. And I plan on implementing that vision,” Bongino finished.

Trump made the announcement Sunday night in a Truth Social post, calling Bongino “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country.”

“Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice,” Trump wrote. “Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel.”

Trump lauded Bongino’s extensive law enforcement experience, pointing to his time in the NYPD, his years as a Secret Service agent, and his work exposing corruption in federal agencies. “He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve,” Trump wrote.

The president made it clear that Bongino will be instrumental in carrying out his administration’s agenda alongside Patel and newly appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi. “Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!”

Bongino has been one of the fiercest critics of the FBI in recent years, calling out alleged weaponization against conservatives and its failure to secure the nation’s highest-profile targets.

Bongino has also been a vocal opponent of former FBI Director Christopher Wray and the agency’s handling of the January 6 cases. He has repeatedly pointed out how the bureau, under Democratic leadership, targeted parents, pro-lifers, and conservative activists while turning a blind eye to left-wing violence.
