Democrat Candidate Vows To ‘Kill Trump’ In Shocking Video

A Democratic candidate running for Ohio attorney general ignited outrage after posting a social media video in which he said he was going to “kill Donald Trump,” framing the remark as a hypothetical execution following a criminal conviction.

In the roughly 40-second clip, Elliot Forhan described a scenario in which President Trump is tried, convicted and sentenced to death.

“I want to tell you what I mean when I say that I am going to kill Donald Trump,” Forhan said in the video.

“I mean, I’m going to obtain a conviction rendered by a jury of his peers at a standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt based on evidence presented at a trial conducted in accordance with the requirements of due process, resulting in a sentence duly executed of capital punishment.”

Forhan, a one-term state representative, did not identify any specific crimes he believes Trump committed that would warrant the death penalty. The video nonetheless spread quickly online, triggering condemnation from Republican officials across the state.

Ohio State Auditor Keith Faber, a Republican who is also running for attorney general, blasted the remarks and questioned Forhan’s fitness for the job.

“That kind of vile comment makes it clear that Elliot Forhan is not qualified to be attorney general,” Faber said in a video statement.

Faber also called on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton to denounce the rhetoric. As of the latest reports, Acton has not publicly responded.

Former state Rep. Jay Edwards, now a Republican candidate for Ohio treasurer, said the video fit a broader pattern of troubling behavior.

“He posted ‘F*** Charlie Kirk’ days after his assassination, has a history of rage and now openly fantasizes about executing the President,” Edwards wrote on X.

Edwards added that the comments were especially alarming given the office Forhan is seeking.

“I am going to kill Donald Trump”—dressed up in legal jargon about trials and capital punishment,” Edwards wrote. “This isn’t clever; it’s a deranged fantasy from someone seeking Ohio’s top law enforcement role.”

Forhan’s past conduct has already drawn scrutiny from his own party. In 2023, Democratic leadership stripped him of all committee assignments and access to an office following complaints of abusive behavior toward staff and colleagues.

The video comes at a time of heightened concern over political violence and rhetoric aimed at elected officials. Critics say invoking the execution of a sitting or former president, even as a supposed legal thought experiment, crosses a clear line.

Forhan has not removed the video or issued an apology, and his campaign has not released a statement addressing the backlash.
