Democrat Sen. Bucks Party, Doubles Down On Support For Operation Epic Fury
Sen. John Fetterman broke with many in his own party Wednesday by praising President Donald Trump’s recent military strikes on Iran, saying the operation has “made the world safer” even as Democrats ramp up criticism of the administration’s actions.
Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity,” the Pennsylvania Democrat argued that the strikes dealt a major blow to Tehran’s military and nuclear ambitions.
“Usually, the Iranians only respond [to] power…” Fetterman said.
“Now it might force them to continue more kinds of military strikes, but remind everyone, their nuclear ambitions have been severely damaged at this point. The Israelis have killed many, many of the scientists and [destroyed] a lot of those [nuclear] facilities as well, too.”
Fetterman said concerns remain over Iran’s remaining enriched uranium stockpile, but maintained that the regime has been significantly weakened by the joint U.S.-Israeli campaign.
“Every single thing Iran has done is an entire war crime. Now, we are the force of good in the world,” he said.
The senator also rejected calls from fellow Democrats to hold a new War Powers vote in Congress, saying lawmakers should not interfere with the military while operations remain ongoing.

“We’re not even 40 days into this and, now, I’m reading that they have to force another war powers vote, and I will vote against that now because we have to stand [behind] our military to allow them to accomplish, you know, the goals of Epic Fury,” Fetterman said.

His comments put him at odds with top Democrats who have blasted Trump’s Iran policy and warned the conflict risks spiraling further while bypassing Congress.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Wednesday that Democrats will force a vote next week on a War Powers Resolution aimed at reining in Trump’s authority.
“The bottom line is… Iran still has its nuclear stockpile…” Schumer said on Wednesday.
“Its nuclear ambitions are still unchecked, if not accelerated. What the hell is [Trump] doing?”
Several Senate Democrats, including Schumer, have labeled the Iran conflict Trump’s “war of choice,” underscoring growing divisions inside the Democratic Party as Fetterman continues to distance himself from the party’s left flank on national security issues.
