Democratic Party Official And ‘LGBTQ+ Activist’ Arrested For Child Sex Crimes

A Florida Democratic Party official and self-described “LGBTQ+” activist was arrested on child pornography charges earlier this month after he allegedly shared content with an undercover officer.

The U.S Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida filed child sex abuse charges against Matthew Inman, 39, who served as treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party. He was also the president of Rainbow Democrats, a prominent LGBTQ activist group.

Inman is accused of receiving and saving multiple videos of “child sexual abuse material,” many of which depicted adults sexually abusing young children, between August and October of 2024, according to a press release from prosecutors. In October 2024, Inman traveled to Las Vegas and began to chat with an undercover law enforcement officer who was posing as the father of a 9-year-old boy.

During the conversation, Inman told the undercover officer that he was interested in meeting and sexually assaulting the purported child, prosecutors said. He also sent videos depicting child sexual abuse to the undercover officer.

“The FBI obtained a search warrant for Inman’s electronic devices and residence. During the execution of the search warrant, Inman attempted to delete the evidence from his phone and hide in the attic of his house,” the press release continued. Prosecutors noted that the case was brought as a result of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual abuse.

Rainbow Democrats said they were “shocked” by the charges in a statement released to social media shortly after Inman’s arrest. “We offer our condolences to any victims of child sexual abuse and hope justice will be served to the fullest extent of the law,” the organization’s board of directors said. “We have suspended Mr. Inman from the Caucus. He has no acting role in any capacity with the organization as of now. He will be officially removed at our next general meeting.”

“The Rainbow Democrats are working to move beyond this horrible incident to continue our service to the community,” the statement concluded.

An X account reportedly belonging to Inman identifies himself as an “LGBTQ+ rights and civil rights activist.” The account’s bio also lists his affiliation with Rainbow Democrats and the Orange County Democratic Party. His last post on the platform came on November 17, in which he informed followers that he was moving to the fledgling X clone BlueSky, a website almost exclusively used by left-wing activists.

The Orange County Democrats also released a statement in response to Inman’s arrest and has since elected a new treasurer.  “We are deeply appalled and horrified by the news that Matthew Inman has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse involving a minor. We unequivocally condemn child sexual abuse in the strongest possible terms and hope that any victims involved receive the support and resources they need moving forward,” the party wrote.

“After learning of the allegations against Mr. Inman, the Orange County Democratic Party acted swiftly to suspend him from all voluntary roles and responsibilities. We will continue to uphold the highest standards of accountability and integrity,” the statement continued.

Inman was booked into custody on January 16 by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and remains in custody at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, according to a report from Fox News.
