Democrats accused of running ‘Political Operation’ to stop Trump in 2024
Representative Jim Jordan, a Republican of Ohio, criticized the House select committee investigating the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, calling it a “political operation” to prevent ex-President Donald Trump from running for President again.
Jordan was called to speak before a House select committee about the events of January 6, but the Republican declined. In a letter to the committee he sent last week, Jordan said that even if he had info for the Select Committee, the actions and remarks of Democrats in the House of Representatives suggested that the inquiry was not objective and fair-minded.
During a Sunday morning interview with Fox News, Jordan mentioned the occurrence one more time. He stated that anyone with a sense of decency would be hesitant to speak with the committee that had already demonstrated their willingness to tamper with evidence and mislead Americans, per report.
Jordan continued his criticism by saying that everyone in the country knew this was a political operation designed to prevent Donald Trump from becoming the President again. Trump has not stated whether or not he intends to run for President again in 2024, but made numerous hints that people would be “happy” in the future.
In the interview, Jordan referred to a text message he wrote to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows prior to the January 6 riot, which the committee made public in December. Only a portion of the text message was revealed, and Jordan was not identified as the sender. However, Newsweek explained that the message was shortened for brevity’s sake and that the intention was not to mislead the public.
The text message in question outlined a plan to overturn President Joe Biden’s electoral victory over Trump in an unlawful manner. As a result, some have labeled Jordan a “traitor” for communicating with Meadows.
