Don Lemon Humiliated As His New Show On X Fails Miserably

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon’s ambitious move to a new platform has faced a significant setback. The launch of “The Don Lemon Show” on X (formerly Twitter) was marred by a conspicuous decline in viewer interest, particularly after an exclusive interview with tech mogul Elon Musk.

The show’s premiere episode, featuring Musk, initially garnered 2 million impressions, which was a promising start for Lemon’s latest media venture. However, subsequent episodes have failed to maintain this momentum, with viewership plummeting to less than 70,000 impressions, signaling a potentially insurmountable challenge for the show’s future.

The dramatic drop in ratings has sparked a contentious narrative, with Lemon suggesting that Musk’s discomfort during their interview was influenced by Lemon’s identity as a black gay man.

“Some people took it to mean a racial thing. I meant someone who has a different worldview,” said Lemon. “But, since people raised it and you said what you said, do you think that he was uncomfortable? I didn’t want to go there. Do you think he was uncomfortable sitting in front of a gay black guy?”

Earlier in March, Elon Musk terminated the previously announced partnership with Lemon, effectively canceling “The Don Lemon Show” on the platform X. The cancellation came just hours after the exclusive interview that Musk granted Lemon, which was set to premiere the new series on March 18.

Despite the setback, Lemon vowed to proceed with the show’s debut on YouTube and other podcast platforms.

“So speaking of free speech, right, I thought the first person to interview, no brainer, Elon Musk, the man who calls himself a free speech absolutist. I asked him to do it. He willingly agreed to the interview,” Lemon said. “But apparently free speech absolutism doesn’t apply when it comes to questions about him from people like me.”

In another statement, Lemon wrote that there were no restrictions placed on the interview, which covered a wide range of topics from SpaceX to the presidential election. He described the conversation as “good” and “respectful.”

In January, Lemon announced his new venture, ‘The Don Lemon Show’ that was set to air in 30-minute episodes on X.

Musk, being a prominent public figure and the owner of the platform X, has shown support for various individuals and shows, including those with significant followings and influence, such as Tucker Carlson. Musk’s actions and statements on X often draw considerable attention due to his influential position in the technology and space exploration sectors, as well as his outspoken nature on social and political issues.

Back in April of 2023, Lemon was fired from CNN. As a prominent anchor, Lemon helmed “Don Lemon Tonight,” a prime-time show. His firing was a down moment for Lemon’s career, a culmination of a series of events that led to the end of his tenure at the network where he had become one of its most recognizable faces. Throughout his time at CNN, Lemon was known for his outspoken and sometimes controversial takes on politics, social issues, and culture, which attracted criticism from various quarters.
