Don Jr. Responds To Rumors That He’s Running For President

Donald Trump Jr. is making it clear that he has no plans to run for president in 2028, and he’s not holding back against those who suggest otherwise.

Mediaite published a report on Friday citing three anonymous sources close to the Trump family who claimed the eldest son of President Donald Trump is “seriously considering” a White House bid after his father completes his second term. The sources alleged that Trump Jr., a vocal supporter of the MAGA movement and a dominant force on social media, is eyeing the presidency as part of an effort to extend his father’s political dynasty.

Three top sources reportedly informed Mediate that Trump Jr. is actively contemplating a presidential bid in 2028.

“Don has been the most politically involved of all the Trump kids and has always kept the lanes open for a presidential run,” a White House insider and close friend of the Trump family revealed. “He is a valued voice for his father, and a real possibility to be a contender in 2028.”

“Don Jr. has long been a key voice in influencing cabinet picks, policy, and potential endorsements,” another insider shared. “He has also consistently been the most active on the campaign trail for the president as well as his endorsed candidates.”

Another ally of the Trump family agreed. “One hundred percent he will run, but only for president not VP,” they stated. “He is older and more experienced than JD. In about a year, real conversations will start about him running. At this point, it’s too soon, and he doesn’t want to start a battle with JD, especially since they are friends.”

But Trump Jr. didn’t waste any time shutting down the rumors. In a fiery response to Mediaite, he dismissed the speculation in the bluntest terms possible.

“I accurately predicted that my buddy JD [Vance] would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my ass off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028? Are you f*ing retarded?” Trump Jr. wrote in a statement.

He continued: “I’m actually glad you’re printing this bulls*** though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how shitty your ‘sources’ are and how easily you’re played by them. Congrats, moron.”

Despite Trump Jr.’s sharp denial, his name remains one of the most talked-about potential candidates for the 2028 Republican nomination. A December 2024 Morning Consult poll showed that he and Vice President JD Vance were the clear frontrunners among prospective GOP contenders, each garnering 30% support from Republican voters.

Notably, younger conservatives aged 18-34 leaned more toward Trump Jr., with 44% backing him over Vance’s 27%. At an event during his father’s inauguration weekend, Trump Jr. was asked whether he would launch a campaign of his own.

“Oh, God. No, no, no, don’t get me into trouble,” he said, according to The Hill, quickly shifting the focus to his father’s administration. “We have to govern. We have to win, we have to fight. We have to get it done; we have to deliver on our promises.”

With the 2028 election still years away, the Republican field remains wide open.
