Ellen DeGeneres’ U.K. Property Floods Just Weeks After She Fled The U.S. Following Trump’s Election
Longtime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres shared that her U.K. mansion has been flooded just weeks after she left the United States following President-elect Donald Trump’s historic comeback victory.
Degeneres and her wife, fellow actress Portia de Rossi, had recently purchased the multi-million pound property in the Cotswolds, a wealthy rural community located about two hours outside London, and are attempting to settle their permanently ahead of Trump’s impending return to the White House.
The 43-acre is now under water, however, after the River Thames overflowed as a result of torrential downpours in the wake of Storm Bert, the Daily Mail reported.
Numerous roads in the area have been left unusable after the flooding submerged them in five feet of water. The storm has also left multiple residents trapped in their homes. “The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years,” one resident who lives close to the couple told the outlet.

The flooding comes less than a month after DeGeneres and de Rossi reportedly relocated to England in the wake of Trump’s presidential election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Sources told The Wrap that the couple decided to “get the hell out” and left for the U.K. on a permanent basis and have listed their Montecitio, California mansion for sale.
The couple, who were married in 2008, will likely “never” return to the United States on a permanent basis, one source told the outlet.
In addition to the Trump victory, the move has been described as a “fresh start” for DeGeneres after her career took a massive backslide. The longtime “Ellen” show host “kicked out of show business” following allegations of fomenting a “toxic” workplace on the set of her longtime NBC program.
Trump’s victory did indeed leave them feeling “disillusioned,” however, according to a longtime friend of the couple. DeGeneres was very vocal about her support for Vice President Kamala Harris during the campaign cycle and reportedly donated $3,300 towards her election bid.
The Cotswolds are a picturesque English countryside village that boasts several celebrity residents. New neighbors for the couple include David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Elizabeth Hurley.
