New Twitter owner Elon Musk trashed the New York Times in a recent Twitter rant, slamming the left-wing network for not covering “The Twitter files” that he and journalist Matt Taibbi released on Friday evening. Those filed both exposed the collusion of Twitter moderation teams with political groups, particularly the DNC and Biden Campaign, and showed the lengths to which Twitter went to shut down any discussion of the Hunter Biden story.
Musk’s anti-NYT firebreathing began with a tweet from author and radio host Clay Travis, who said “There is not one single article about @elonmusk or the @twitter email release last night on @nytimes app this morning.”
Commenting on that post, Elon shredded the New York Times, calling it an “unregistered lobbying firm” for the far-left politicians in the Democratic Party. In his words: “That is because The New York Times has become, for all intents and purposes, an unregistered lobbying firm for far left politicians.”

Elon also added, “More importantly, they said nothing about ChatGPT! Totally đ´ at the đ.”
And Travis’ tweet was the first tweet in a thread in which he also said:
Remember one of the biggest, if not the biggest, powers of media is deciding which stories to cover. If you just read @nytimes & @washingtonpost, as tens of millions do, youâd have no idea about last nightâs news on this site. The vast majority of Americans donât use Twitter.
Whatever your politics are, if youâre in media and you donât think new revelations about the most severe censorship of a newspaperâs story in big tech history isnât a story worthy of covering you arenât a journalist youâre a propagandist.
Leftists, predictably, lost it in the comments section of Elon’s response to Clay Travis.
GQ’s Luke Zaleski, for example, said, “Twitter is Elonâs World. Heâs paid $44 billion to dominate your attention and dictate what you see and believe. His stated purpose is twofold: 1. To âsave free speechââin particular by platforming white nationalists like trump who sow hate and incite violence 2. To make a profit“.
Similarly, political pundit Keith Olbermann said, “You’re actually more paranoid than Trump, Elmo”.
And the savage shredding of the New York Times delivered by Travis and Musk led to other mainstream news outlets getting hit too.
One commenter pointed out, for example, that Fox News and the Wall Street Journal both declined to cover the Hunter Biden story when it broke, saying, “Among many outlets declining to run the Hunter laptop story in 2020: Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.”
And the bashing of the MSM extended beyond just the comments section of Elon’s tweet. Cernovich hammered the anti-Twitter media in a post saying, “From twitter is dead to twitter is doing great but it wonât last“, to which Buck Sexton replied with a quote tweet, saying, “Soon it will be âtwitterâs user base is bigger than ever and its stock price is soaring, but at what cost to our democracy?â And, tying it all together, new Blaze host Auron MacIntyre said “âHow Putin is using Twitter to subvert the 2024 election, women and poc most affected â etc“.

The Cernovich tweet was in response to one from NBC saying, “Elon Musk has generated fresh interest in Twitter, but social media experts say it may only be temporary.“
