Elon Musk Re-Enters Political Arena, Joins Forces With Trump In Key Race
Nate Morris says a massive cash infusion from Elon Musk backing his Republican Senate bid in Kentucky gives his campaign a serious boost.
Morris told Fox News Digital the $10 million donation to the pro-Morris Fight for Kentucky super PAC “certainly gives us the firepower and the ammo to go the distance, to be able to get out our message.”
The businessman and political outsider is running as a staunch ally of President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. He spoke with Fox News after Musk cut what amounts to his biggest-ever check in a U.S. Senate race.
Musk, the world’s wealthiest person, has never donated more to a Senate contest.
Morris is widely viewed as one of the top three contenders in a crowded Republican primary to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, the longtime former GOP leader. His main rivals include Rep. Andy Barr and former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, the 2023 GOP nominee for governor.
“Elon picks winners. Elon has been the greatest entrepreneur in the history of our world, and people are going to be talking about him for 1,000 years. And he knows success. He knows leadership, and I think this is another example of him putting his money where his mouth is.”
Morris said he has largely bankrolled his campaign himself so far, with added help from grassroots donors nationwide.
“To date, I’ve financed most of the campaign myself, and also with help from small dollars from all over the country that want to stop the McConnell machine and want to send a pro-Trump outside business person to the U.S. Senate,” he said.
He stressed that Musk’s backing will dramatically expand his reach.
“This investment from Elon Musk is going to give our message, our campaign, the opportunity to continue to amplify why we should be the U.S. senator here in Kentucky, and the kind of senator we’re going to be.”
Asked why Musk decided to get behind him, Morris pointed to their recent conversation and his outsider pitch.
“I think he saw an outside business guy and someone that was willing to take on the Mitch McConnell machine, and someone that’s going to tell it like it is, and has experience creating jobs, and I think also, a really tough, hard-line immigration policy.”

Musk is also close with Vice President JD Vance, who counts Morris as a personal friend.
The donation, first reported by Axios, was made last week, according to sources. It is Musk’s largest single contribution to a federal candidate outside of Trump.
Musk poured nearly $300 million into backing Trump during the 2024 election, largely through America PAC, funding voter turnout efforts and advertising in key battleground states as Trump faced off against Vice President Kamala Harris.
That alliance briefly fractured last year, with Musk threatening to launch a third party, before the two repaired their relationship in recent months.
After a November dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, Musk began writing big checks to GOP-aligned super PACs backing House and Senate Republicans.
Morris launched his Senate run in June during an appearance on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast. He kicked off his campaign with a rally featuring conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. Morris was the final Senate candidate endorsed by Kirk before his assassination months later.
He has since picked up endorsements from other prominent MAGA figures, including Sens. Bernie Moreno of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana, as well as Steve Bannon, a former Trump strategist and host of the “War Room” podcast.
