Every Single House Democrat Votes Against Protecting Women’s Sports

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to save women’s sports Thursday morning, despite every single Democrat voting against the measure.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passed in a 219-203 vote.

Here is the official final tally, showing 10 Democrats abstaining from voting:

Democrats sounded off on Republicans for the legislation, arguing that it somehow “bullies” and “belittles” transgender children.

“This bill is about bullying children,” said Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH). “Stop bullying children.”

“House Republicans are choosing to bully and belittle trans children,” whined Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA). “This is about attacking a small group of children, and it is shameful.”

Republican Virginia Foxx (R-NC) shot back at left-wing critics, saying conservative proponents of the bill simply want to protect the rights of young girls and women in athletics.

“We hate no one,” Foxx said.

“It is ridiculous that we have had to stand here today to defend the rights of women and girls to participate in sports against other women and girls and they not being taken advantage of by biological males.”

Others argued the Biden administration’s rule changes will overturn the rights women gained in sports when Congress implemented Title IX in the 70s.

“Congress in 1972 created Title IX to protect women’s sports to enable women to have an equal playing field in athletics,” said Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL), a major sponsor of the bill. “In worship to their trans idols, the administration wants to flip that on its head. It is insane.”

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who was a mediocre male swimmer, and then became a champion in the female division, recently voiced support for Biden’s proposed changes.

Former All-American swimmer Riley Gaines, who was forced to compete against Thomas and once tied with the biological male, slammed the administration’s plan in response.

Republican Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) lauded the bill – and Riley Gaines – in an address to the House.
