Ex-NBA Broadcaster Fired For Tweeting ‘All Lives Matter’ Returns To Radio

Grant Napear, a longtime television broadcaster for the NHL’s Sacramento Kings, has returned to radio after being ousted at the peak of Black Lives Matter hysteria for tweeting the simple phrase, “All Lives Matter.”

Not long after George Floyd’s death, former Kings star Center DeMarcus Cousins asked Napear for his thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement. “All Lives Matter… Every Single One!” Napear responded.

As violent riots gripped the nation and witch hunts for “racists” were underway, far-left activists demanded Napear’s firing for uttering the phrase. “Anti-racist” activists has long contended that the simple phrase “all lives matter” constitutes support for white supremacy because it supposedly takes focus off the BLM cause.

Just hours after the post was made, the Sacramento Kings announced that Napear had been placed on administrative leave. The veteran broadcaster, who had been calling Kings games since 1988, was then forced to apologize as the mob demanded his job.

“I’m not as educated on BLM as I thought I was,” Napear said in an apology published by The Sacramento Bee. “I had no idea that when I said ‘All Lives Matter’ that it was counter to what BLM is trying to get across.”

While Napear was not fired by the Kings, the apology was not enough to satisfy the mob and he soon announced that he would be stepping down. He later sued his former employer, KHTK radio, for wrongful termination after he was fired from his radio hosting gig.

His suit was unsuccessful, however, as a judge sided with the radio station and dismissed the case back in April.

On Tuesday, Napear announced that he will formally be returning to radio with a new show on Fox Sports’ Sacramento affiliate. The new program is set to begin on September 2 and will occupy the 2-6 p.m. time slot, which is often considered the most popular for radio programs.

Napear announced the new show on X alongside a graphic reading, “GRANT’S BACK IN SAC.”

With his new role, the former Kings broadcaster will be competing directly with his former employer.

“It’s going to be the Grant Napear show that people have listened to for decades,” Napear told the Sacramento Bee. “I’m competitive. I’m not only coming back to Sacramento. I’m coming back to win…I’m gonna put them on the map. I want people to know that I’m not doing this because I’m desperate. I’m doing this because I want to do it. It’s been a void in my life. There is nothing like the community of Sacramento. I want to talk to Sacramento fans again. I want to win the afternoons again.”
