Illegal Crossings Of Foreigners On Terror List Have Increased Ninefold Since Biden Took Office

An alarming ninefold increase of foreigners on the U.S. terrorist screening list has tried to illegally cross the border into the United States since Joe Biden took office. In the last year of Donald Trump’s presidency, there were only three such crossings. This rose to 16 such crossings in Biden’s first year in office. Now, so far in 2023, an astonishing 140 persons on that list have been apprehended. This is already up from last year’s record of 98 such encounters according to Just the News.

National security experts told the news outlet that this was not a good development for the country and that terrorists may be trying to cross the border with intent to harm the United States. A former CIA analyst, Fred Fleitz, opined that “This un-secure border, it’s not simply a threat from possible criminals and others in South America, there are people from a variety of countries, not just China, who I think are sneaking in.”

The former head of the agency responsible for the border (the Customs Border Protection agency), Mark Morgan, similarly told Just the News that “We literally could have the next terrorist sleeper cell in the United States planning a terrorist attack, and we would have no idea.”

Lawmakers in Congress have also raised the alarm over this development. Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH), James Comer (R-KY), and Mark Green (R-TN) wrote a letter to Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary that read “[t]hese ‘known gotaways’ do not provide biometric or biographic information to USBP agents and continue their journey into the interior of the country without background checks against law enforcement databases.”

The letter continued observing that “[t]errorists and other bad actors will attempt to exploit weaknesses in border security and vetting procedures to infiltrate the United States. We fear these known gotaways could also include illegal aliens with terrorist ties.” They also blasted the administration, writing, “[I]t is unclear the extent to which actual legal impediments exist to prevent detention and removal of aliens with terrorist ties, as opposed to impediments imposed by the Biden administration’s misguided policies.”

Representative Green also wrote on Twitter attacking the administration for its release of illegal immigrants without proper checking with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that “[t]his is not surprising. Secretary Mayorkas and President Biden set up the system to operate this way.”

Back in March, Green also shared an assessment from a border patrol chief that the United States under Biden “does NOT have operational control over our southern border.”
