‘FAILURE’: Dan Bongino Reveals Bombshell Report From Secret Service Sources

The Secret Service is under fire following the security breach at Saturday’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where former President Donald Trump was injured. Dan Bongino, leveraging his connections within the agency, brought to light troubling details about the incident that point to significant lapses in protocol and communication.

According to Bongino, a former Secret Service agent who has deep ties to the agency, the responsibility of ensuring the former president’s safety is primarily that of the Secret Service, despite their reliance on local law enforcement for support. “The Secret Service knows that there were some lapses on the side of locals. There were. But let’s be clear—it’s their job to secure the President’s life. Period,” Bongino explained on his show.

“There is an actual text record, so it’s not disputable. That this threat may have been recognized at about 5.01 p.m., an hour before Donald Trump got on stage.” Despite the early warning, the response was fatally delayed. “There are some people telling me that there was a failure in the beginning to properly get that information out,” Bongino added.

“I’m hearing from Secret Service sources that it was roughly a half an hour, in other words, 5:31, before they got a picture of this potential threat,” Bongino said. “Folks, again, this is coming from the top. Now, the Secret Service has a political problem right now. The political problem is serious. The Secret Service needs local partners to do protection.”

“The locals and some of the Butler County officials are disputing that, saying, hey, we told the Secret Service about the threat and they didn’t do anything. That is going to come out in the wash once we get these records for you and out in the public,” he assured.

“So they’re in this bind right now; my advice to them if you’re listening right now is: Ladies and gentlemen, the truth doesn’t have an agenda. The truth is the truth. Just tell the truth. I get it; local partners in the future are probably going to be pissed off. And we’re going to have to mitigate a lot of that and do liaison work, but you got to fix this thing.”

Bongino’s experience in the Secret Service has often informed his commentary and perspectives on security and national defense issues. He served in the United States Secret Service from 1999 to 2011. During his tenure, he was assigned to the Presidential Protection Division during the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Bongino’s role in the Secret Service involved a detailed and close-range protection duty, where he was directly responsible for the physical security of the President.

Bongino’s career in the Secret Service began as a special agent in the New York Field Office, where he investigated federal crimes, including bank fraud and computer crimes. After his time in field investigations, Bongino moved to the elite Presidential Protective Division.

Five days following the shocking assassination attempt on former President Trump, investigators are still scrambling to determine the attacker’s motive. At the Republican National Convention last night, a group of GOP senators confronted US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, accusing her of dodging crucial questions about the security breach.
