First Batch Of Results From Swing-State County Spells Disaster For Democrats

Published

on

Early results for former President Donald Trump are very encouraging in Maricopa County, the largest county in Arizona that encompasses the Phoenix metropolitan area.

According to early data from ABC News election analyst Garrett Archer, Harris is beating Trump in Maricopa County by just over two percentage points after the first batch of results from the country.

The results come as Harris needed to secure a massive Election Day turnout after historic early voting trends for Republicans in Arizona. As of Election Day, more than 37,000 thousand Republicans had voted early in Maricopa County. Independent voters came in second with 34,400 ballots counted, while Democrats trailed in a distant third with a little over 18,000 early votes.

NBC News exit polls found independents breaking for Trump by four percentage points, further complicating Harris’ path to victory.

“Right now, Trump and Harris are also tied in deep blue Maricopa County, which is half the state’s population,” Truth In Media founder Ben Swann wrote in an X post. “If they tie in Maricopa County, Trump will more than likely carry the entire state.”

Just before 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Decision Desk HQ called the crucial battleground of Georgia for former President Donald Trump. The race call follows a projected win for the Republican nominee in North Carolina, meaning that Trump will only need to win Arizona and one of the “blue wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Decision Desk HQ has also called Virginia and New Hampshire for the former president, though margins have been much tighter than anticipated.
