Former Kamala Harris Fundraiser Slams Vice President for Misusing Donor Funds
Lindy Li, a high-profile former fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris, has severed ties with the Democratic Party in a fiery exit, accusing the campaign of grossly misusing donor funds and showing favoritism to billionaires like Oprah Winfrey. Li, who raised millions for Harris’s failed presidential bid, claims her disillusionment reached a breaking point after witnessing what she called financial irresponsibility and a lack of accountability.
“My initial disillusionment became clear when I realized that they spent, they burnt, essentially set $2.5 billion on fire,” Li told Fox News. “They raised $1.5 billion through the campaign, another billion through the super PAC Future Forward, and there’s been no accountability.”
“We still haven’t gotten any answer as to why Oprah—a billionaire—got $2.5 million dollars through her production company. Why couldn’t she pay for it? She’s an oligarch; she could have just covered the production costs herself. And not to mention the fact that they spent $450,000 putting Kamala Harris’s face on the Sphere. Now tell me why that would be helpful. Tell me how that would help her win. Obviously, that was an utter failure.”
Li also highlighted other expenditures she deemed egregious, including $450,000 to project Harris’s face onto a Las Vegas digital sphere and $500,000 paid to Al Sharpton “moments before he interviewed her.”

“I haven’t met a single donor who disagrees with me,” Li added. Li’s decision to publicly cut ties with the Democratic Party has not come without repercussions. She says she has faced online harassment and vitriol since making her announcement, with the party resorting to “public shaming” and “psychological terrorism.”
“So this is all happening really quickly for me, but you might see me at the inauguration,” she revealed. “I don’t want to say too much right now, but somebody on Team Trump already reached out to me. They’ve been incredibly gracious. And on day one, they were kinder to me and more humane than the DNC ever was.”
Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign concluded with a significant financial shortfall, leaving approximately $20 million in debt despite raising over $1 billion. The campaign’s financial strategy has come under fire, with many pointing to high-profile but costly expenditures that failed to deliver a victory in the election.
Among the campaign’s significant outlays was nearly $2.5 million paid to Oprah Winfrey’s production company for a celebrity-packed town hall event, a sum that exceeded initial estimates. Similarly, six-figure amounts were allocated to set designs for various media appearances, including Harris’s participation in the popular podcast Call Her Daddy. While the investments were intended to amplify the campaign’s visibility, they sparked criticism about prioritizing style over substance.
NEW: Kamala Harris’ appearance on ‘Call Her Daddy’ turns into massive flop as the YouTube segment barely received 100k views in the first 16 hours with mostly negative reactions.

Harris’s campaign raised unprecedented funds, fueled by support from high-profile donors and grassroots contributors. However, the substantial debt has fueled internal discussions about the party’s future direction and the challenges of balancing celebrity-driven appeal with traditional campaign strategies.
As Harris faces mounting criticism from both former allies and political opponents, Li’s defection underscores the growing fractures within the Democratic Party—a big contrast to Trump’s apparent success in unifying his base heading into his second term.
