Fox News Reporter Caught Off Guard When Entire Diner Says They’re Voting For Trump

On Thursday morning, Fox News reporter Lawrence Jones seemed caught off guard when he asked a diner full of Georgia residents whether they support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis or former President Donald Trump in the race to become the GOP nominee in 2024.

The reporter was interviewing Georgians in the lead-up to the upcoming debate between DeSantis and California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom set to take place on Thursday night.

When Jones asked the group if they thought DeSantis would win the primary, the room went silent, but when Trump’s name was asked, cheers erupted from the raucous crowd. The result was so definitive that Jones followed up, “Should I even ask another candidate at this point?”

The Citizen Free Press described the encounter thusly, “Fox asks Georgia voters who they think will win the primary. ‘Who thinks DeSantis is going to win?’ :Crickets: ‘Who thinks Trump is going to win.’”

As he walked along the establishment’s bar he asked who the patrons thought would win the election, of the six people he asked the answer was unanimously ‘Trump’.

Jones turning to his cameraman summarized, “Of course, we’re in Georgia, and it is pretty much Trump country so I’m not surprised that you’ve got a lot of folks that feel like Donald Trump is gonna win,” belying the clear surprise seen on his expression earlier in the segment.

According to the most recent poll from Zogby Analytics of 273 likely Republican voters in Georgia, Trump leads DeSantis 55%-10%. Fivethirtyeight reported that though DeSantis polled within ten points of Trump in May, the former president broke away in August and has held a 40+, nearly unassailable lead.

Trump outperformed incumbent President Joe Biden handily in the head-to-head presidential race, particularly in situations that included independents Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Cornell West.
