Fox News Accused Of Lobbying Against Trump’s Greenland Push

Fox News is facing some heat online after appearing to subtly lobby against President Donald Trump’s push to acquire the Danish-owned territory of Greenland.

Fox, the only dominant mainstay in conservative media since its founding in 1996 until alienating MAGA supporters post-2016, is now being accused of quietly working against Trump’s latest effort to expand American interests.

Last week, protesters in Greenland took to the streets in the capital city of Nuuk, in what was a large-scale demonstration for the sparsely populated island. However, Fox, without much data to go on, appeared to definitively call it the “biggest demonstration” in the “nation’s history” in a forced post that rubbed readers the wrong way.

“COLD SHOULDER: Thousands rally in Greenland’s capital city, chanting ‘Greenland is not for sale,’ after President Trump doubles down on the U.S.’ initiative to acquire the country,” it reads. “The protest is reportedly the biggest demonstration in the nation’s history.”

The post was panned by users on X, with some calling the report “fake news” while others wondered whether Fox was punked by paid protestors angling against the acquisition.

While subtle, many readers are convinced Fox’s recent rhetoric is intentional, pointing to the hawk-like, hardline stances from top hosts and reporters on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, including Jacqui Heinrich and Jennifer Griffin. Heinrich is married to Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), one of the most hardcore, pro-Ukraine members of Congress.

Another headline readers took offense to was posted on Wednesday while Trump was addressing world leaders in Davos, Switzerland.

“Trump doubles down on Greenland push as polls show little public support,” the headline reads.

While Fox is right to note that most Americans oppose a military invasion of Greenland, the headline appears to be intentionally misleading; many do support the possible purchase of the island. Nearly 40% of Americans fully support the idea, while many others remain open-minded on the issue. Meanwhile, at least two-thirds of Republicans support the acquisition.

Fox’s ever-loyal audience is overwhelmingly right-leaning.

Even still, the network frequently features “conservative” voices that just so happen to disagree with Trump on just about any matter of policy. Yesterday, longtime host Howard Kurtz said “nobody” in America is in favor of acquiring Greenland.

“Bret, nobody wants this! Not the people in Denmark, not the people in Greenland, and nearly nine in ten in a Quinnipiac poll saying they don’t want a military option — that includes 68% of Republicans,” Kurtz declared with spotty data.

“Now I think the president’s feeling emboldened after the capture of Maduro in Venezuela. There’s already a U.S. military base there in Greenland, there could be more. But I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this could blow up the Atlantic alliance.”
