Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis Wins Democratic Primary
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has won the Democratic primary and will now be standing for re-election in November.
Willis defeated Atlanta attorney Christian Wise Smith in the Democratic primary. Judge Scott McAfee, who is overseeing Willis’ dubious RICO case against former president Trump, also won his primary over attorney Robert Patillo in a nonpartisan election.
If either Willis or McAfee had lost their respective races, the “election interference” case into former President Trump would have faced further delays.
The case is already nowhere near trial, as Willis has faced numerous efforts to remove her from the case due to noted political bias, as well as a series of allegations of misconduct. Willis has faced credible allegations that she misused county funds while serving as district attorney. She is currently the subject of numerous investigations, both state and federal.

Willis will go on to face Republican lawyer Courtney Kramer in the general election. Kramer previously worked in the Trump White House and on his campaign.
Willis’ re-election bid comes after revelations that she had an affair with attorney Nathan Wade, who was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to work on the Trump case. After a weeks-long disqualification trial, McAfee ruled that either Willis or Wade must recuse themselves in order for the case to proceed.
Wade ultimately refused himself from the case earlier this year. The disqualification matter has since been re-opened, while Willis is facing additional investigations from the Georgia Senate and the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.
Given Fulton County’s heavily Democratic leanings, Willis is favored to cruise to re-election in November.
