Matt Gaetz Blasts Republican Senator For ‘Protecting Biden’
Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL), known for leading the defenestration of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, has placed a prominent Republican U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma in his rhetorical crosshairs.
Mullins who said that incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden may not be found impeachable by the Senate according to reporting from The Hill, took some harsh criticism from Gaetz according to The Western Journal, confirmed in a post to X.
Gaetz wrote simply, “.@SenMullin is protecting Biden”

The saga began when Mullin speaking to Newsmax told “Wake Up America,” that Biden could not be impeached or removed from the White House for conduct or crimes committed prior to his swearing-in. He told Newsmax that any basis for impeachment “has to be committed while he was in office, the current office he holds.”
“So what he did as vice president, what he did in between the two [offices] may not be impeachable.”
“If they send us a case, make sure it’s convictable,” Mullin warned. “The bar’s real high, there’s no question about it.”

“What he did as the vice president; what he did in between the two may not be impeachable,” Mullin added telling interviewers that he wants to move forward if a case can be made.
“If the president of the United States used his office to benefit him, to gain favor of other countries while they’re actually paying him, that’s a huge issue .. then we absolutely should convict him regardless of the politics behind it. It’s the law,” he said.
“What’s interesting about the Senate versus the House is the senators have a lot bigger area, a lot bigger state to cover, so they cover blue parts of the state plus red parts,” Mullin continued.
“When you talk to some more moderate-leaning senators, they will tell you that if the House sends over an airtight case that completely points to the president — breaking the law, in treason, misdemeanors, high crimes — they would try it just like they would any other case,” he said.
“One thing that we’ve asked for during this impeachment inquiry that that the House will send us a solid case,” Mullin said.
Gaetz made his determination about Mullins during his visit to Phoenix, AZ to participate in Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest 2023. A few days prior on Dec. 13th, he shared a post from Quiver Quantitative that suggested Mullins has increased his wealth by approximately $51 million. He wrote, “We should pass a ban on trading stocks!”
