REPORT: Gisele Bünchden Splits With Jiu-Jitsu Instructor Due To Roast Of Tom Brady
Gisele Bündchen’s relationship with her jiu-jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente, may be cooling off. Joaquim, 36, was spotted for the last time at the Brazilian supermodel’s home in Bal Harbour, Florida, on April 26, leading to rumors that the couple might be taking a break.
“The spotlight was too much for him,” a source revealed to In Touch Weekly. “Joaquim’s a regular guy. He’s not used to all the attention he was getting.” The situation wasn’t helped by Tom Brady’s Netflix roast. “Joaquim became part of the joke. People actually started asking him if he was the reason for their divorce. He hated that.”
Gisele, 43, was deeply troubled by her ex-husband’s actions, who is 46. “She blames the break on Tom,” the source stated. “By agreeing to do the roast, he basically put a target on Joaquim’s back.”
Brady and Bündchen finalized their divorce in 2022, after 13 years of marriage. They both expressed a commitment to co-parenting their children amicably. The decision came after speculation about marital issues, but both have since focused on their respective careers and personal growth.

Just one month after their divorce was finalized, Bündchen and Valente were seen together in Costa Rica with her children. At that time, sources indicated their relationship was “strictly platonic and professional,” as Valente was serving as the family’s jiu-jitsu instructor.
At the roast, Kevin Hart and Nikki Glaser repeatedly brought up the relationship between Bündchen and Valente. During the live event, Glaser humorously remarked, “How much would it suck for Tom… omg, just knowing your ex-wife’s new boyfriend could beat your a** while eating hers.” She also joked that suggesting Bündchen “try jiu-jitsu” was possibly the only decision “dumber” than agreeing to the roast itself.

Sources revealed to PageSix that Bündchen felt that Brady “once again put football before his family.” The seven-time Super Bowl champion later conceded that he “didn’t like” how his family was “affected” by the jokes at the roast and stated he “wouldn’t do that again.”
“I really don’t want to make my life a tabloid,” Gisele said to The New York Times in March:
“’I don’t want to open myself up to all of that.’ But the stories seemed to her more insidious and more familiar, too: The trope of the adulterous wife is as old as time. In no uncertain terms, she refuted the charge that she had cheated: ‘That is a lie.’”
“This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful,” Bündchen said. “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified.”
