Gold Star Mother Stuns CNN Host Into Silence With Reality Check On Biden: ‘Never Heard Back’

In an interview on CNN, Gold Star mother Christy Shamblin delivered a reality check to the network’s host, Abby Philip, revealing a surprising lack of communication from President Joe Biden concerning the death of her daughter-in-law. Despite Biden’s reputation as the ‘Consoler in Chief,’ Shamblin’s experience starkly contrasts the expectations set by such a moniker.

Shamblin was asked about her thoughts on President Biden’s upcoming address on global issues, including the withdrawal from Afghanistan—a subject close to her due to the tragic loss of Nicole, her daughter-in-law, two years ago.

When probed on whether she had received the personal outreach from Biden that many grieving families have come to anticipate, Shamblin’s answer was unequivocal: “No.”

She detailed her family’s efforts to reach out to the White House, seeking a meeting to understand the administration’s perspective on the situation, only to be met with silence. “We’ve not received a response. It’s been months,” Shamblin disclosed.

The CNN anchor, taken aback by Shamblin’s revelation, could only offer a succinct “Sorry to hear that,” before transitioning the conversation. The Biden administration has faced significant backlash following the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.

The event marked the end of America’s longest war, spanning nearly two decades. Criticism came from various quarters, including political opponents, veterans, international allies, and the public.

The crux of the backlash centered around the execution of the withdrawal process, which many viewed as hastily and poorly managed. The rapid advance and eventual takeover by the Taliban led to chaotic scenes at Kabul’s airport, where thousands of Afghans, desperate to flee the country, congregated.

Images and stories of panic and despair circulated globally, showing the humanitarian crisis that unfolded. Many argued that the administration’s strategy failed to ensure the safety of Afghan allies and American citizens, undermining U.S. credibility and commitment to its partners.

For the State of the Union Address, Biden reportedly intends to highlight differences between his economic strategy and that of congressional Republicans, as stated by a White House official.

Jared Bernstein, the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, shared with CNN that Biden’s address will focus on the effectiveness of his economic policies for younger demographics, contrasting this with the Republicans’ tax policies, which he characterized as favoring significant tax reductions for the wealthiest individuals.

Biden is also set to unveil plans for a military operation tagged as an “emergency” initiative, aimed at establishing a port on the coast of Gaza in the Mediterranean Sea to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to another high-ranking officials who spoke on Thursday to ABC News.

The strategic port is expected to accommodate “large ships carrying food, water, medicine, and temporary shelters.” With the port’s utility, a leading defense official revealed that its primary infrastructure, a temporary pier, will “provide the capacity for hundreds of additional truckloads of assistance each day.”

The mission, a collaborative effort between the U.S. and its allies, is “a number of weeks to plan and execute,” shared one senior defense official. The official also noted that the military units required for this operation are either presently stationed in the vicinity or will be deployed there shortly.
