GOP Rep. Introduces Bill That Would Add Trump’s Face To Mount Rushmore
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has officially introduced a bill directing the Secretary of the Interior to add President Donald J. Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore.
“I’ve officially introduced legislation to put President Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore,” Luna wrote on X. “His remarkable accomplishments for our country and the success he will continue to deliver deserve the highest recognition and honor on this iconic national monument. Let’s get carving!”
The bill, filed in the 119th Congress, would require the National Park Service to oversee the addition of Trump’s likeness to the historic South Dakota monument, where his image would join the carvings of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.
“President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history,” Luna said in a separate press release. “Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation’s freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy—a legacy further solidified by the powerful start to his second term.”

The legislation seeks to recognize President Trump, who served as both the 45th and 47th President of the United States, for his influence on the nation. Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota against a clear sky.
Mount Rushmore, one of America’s most iconic landmarks, stands in the Black Hills of South Dakota, showcasing the massive faces of four U.S. presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Carved into the granite mountain, the monument represents the nation’s birth, growth, development, and preservation.
The project, led by sculptor Gutzon Borglum, began in 1927 and took 14 years to complete. Borglum chose these presidents for their contributions to American history: Washington as the nation’s founder, Jefferson for the Louisiana Purchase and expansion, Roosevelt for his leadership in conservation and economic reform, and Lincoln for preserving the Union during the Civil War. The carving process involved dynamite and precise hand-finishing, requiring hundreds of workers.
