Gruesome Cause Of Death Revealed For ‘American Idol’ Star
A longtime “American Idol” producer was found dead last week in a gruesome scene that puzzled investigators, who now suspect foul play.
Robin Kaye, a decorated music supervisor for the show, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a death certificate obtained by People on Tuesday.
The document reveals grim new details from an encounter that police have ruled a double homicide. Deluca appeared to have died seconds after being shot, while Kaye bled out for minutes following her injuries.
The couple was shot at their home on July 10, but their official date of death is listed as July 14, the day LAPD officers first located their bodies, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
An autopsy was performed on Deluca, while no autopsy was performed on the music producer, the July 23 death certificate states. The date of death was corrected on Aug. 4, and both were cremated on July 23.
Kaye, who helped contestants select and prepare for performances during 15 seasons of the musical competition show, and Deluca had returned to their home in Encino after grocery shopping when they encountered Raymond Boodarian, 22, who was in the middle of burglarizing their residence.
Boodarian, who has a rap sheet indicating mental illness and multiple run-ins with the law, is charged with the fatal shooting in which he allegedly killed them execution-style with their own gun.

A police report concluded that Boodarian entered through the $4.5 million home’s front door, which was unlocked, and that an alarm system was not set. Officers responded after a neighbor reported witnessing someone hop the property’s fence around 4 p.m. the day they were killed.
However, a search was called off after authorities found nothing amiss, even after a helicopter conducted an aerial search of the property for signs of an intruder. Despite the front door being unlocked, officers did not enter the house where the couple was lying dead inside.
“The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot,” authorities said, according to the NY Post.
Four days later, officers conducted a wellness check and discovered Kaye and Deluca dead. Boodarian was arrested the following day and charged with their deaths after fingerprint evidence from the home was matched with Boodarian’s prints in a criminal database.
He is scheduled for a mental health hearing on September 3 and remains in custody without bail.
Boodarian has at least three arrests on his record over the prior two years, according for battery and making threats with a weapon, the outlet reported. He was released the same day as two of those arrests.
