Hakeem Jeffries Says Bomb Threats Sent To Democrat Lawmakers Were Signed With ‘MAGA’
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) stated that a string of bomb threats targeting Democrat lawmakers were signed with “MAGA.” He went on to state that Democrats will not be intimidated by violence, making no reference to the fact that several Republicans were targeted with similar threats just three days before.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that several Trump cabinet nominees and their families were targeted with bomb threats and “swatting” incidents. The Trump transition team confirmed that several individuals, including Pete Hegseth (nominated for secretary of defense), John Ratcliffe (proposed for director of national security), and Elise Stefanik (nominated for U.N. ambassador) were among those targeted with violent threats.

In the case of former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz — who recently withdrew his name from consideration for attorney general — a bomb squad team rushed to his home after receiving the threat.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a number of Democrat lawmakers were targeted with similar threats of violence. “Yesterday, during Thanksgiving celebrations, several Democratic Members of Congress, their families and law enforcement officials were targeted with violent threats. These incidents ranged from detailed threats of a pipe bomb placed in mailboxes to swatting, all signed with “MAGA” at the conclusion of the message,” Jeffries wrote in a press release, adding that no injuries had been reported to lawmakers or their families.
“America is a democracy. Threats of violence against elected officials are unacceptable, unconscionable and have no place in a civilized society. All perpetrators of political violence directed at any party must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” the release continued. “House Democrats will not be deterred or intimidated from serving the people by violent threats. We have been in close communication with the Sergeant at Arms office and it is imperative that Congress provide maximum protection for all Members and their families moving forward.”
