Republicans Relentlessly Mock Hakeem Jeffries Over Failed Efforts To Stop OBBB: ‘Low Energy’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has found himself on the receiving end of relentless mockery after his hours-long filibuster of the Big Beautiful Bill ended without any material effect.

As intense negotiations raged throughout the night Wednesday within the Republican conference, Jeffries was telling House Democrats that he had a plan to stop the bill regardless of whether any Republicans vote against.

“House Democrats will keep the pressure on Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill,” Jeffries posted on Instagram on Wednesday, along with a photo of himself holding a Louisville Slugger and standing in his office.  The post was widely criticized by House conservatives, including Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), who called it “low energy.”

“Nah, we beat the Dems at that too,” Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) posted alongside a photo from the recent Congressional baseball game. Others noted that the image could be interpreted as inciting violence, as President Trump was once falsely accused of threatening Judge Juan Merchan over an article image that featured him holding a baseball bat.

“The gap between how much charisma he has and how much he thinks he has could fill the Grand Canyon,” Targeted Victory President Matt Gorman posted on X.

Once Republicans secured enough votes to advance to a floor vote, Jeffries unveiled his master plan: an hours-long filibuster that saw multiple Democrat representatives fall asleep throughout the process. Jeffries rambled on for hours, at times switching back-and-forth between his usual New York accent and channeling former Vice President Kamala Harris by changing his voice.

“Dollar Store Obama has been hysterically rambling for over three and a half hours, whining about tax cuts for working Americans, bonuses for our brave law enforcement, and mass deportations of illegals. He’s still droning on like a broken record,” Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) said midway through the speech. “Meanwhile, President Trump has already secured the votes. The American people stand firmly behind him. Hakeem needs to get off the House floor, take a drug test, and start putting America FIRST — not last.”

Towards the end of the speech, Ogles suggested that “Dollar Store Obama” was running out of steam. “Not sure if his batteries are running low or if he’s just low-T, but someone needs to hand Discount Dollar Store Obama some caffeine ASAP,” the congressman posted on X.

Despite his efforts, the Big Beautiful Bill passed Thursday afternoon by a final vote of 218-214. President Trump is expected to host a signing ceremony in the Oval Office tomorrow afternoon.
